The applications store the contact data in a local database on the device using SQLite. The database used is a relational implementation of a subset of the topic map model which corresponds to the entity-relationship model with the techniques proposed by Chen. The database can store any typed hypergraph without table layout changes. Furthermore the database can provide associations over the network to link contacts or in general topics/entities by roles. Thus it is possible to build an extensible federated data grid.
